Many gardeners face the problem of moisture overabundance of the plot when cellars of constructions appear flooded. To pump out water senselessly because it will arrive all time.

Installation of drainage system on the site helps to solve this problem. The drainage is the branched out system of channels on which soil water is taken away from buildings for plot limits in the water intake. The water intake can be the estuary, river, or the channel along the road. If those are not present, the well is installed, which diameter is 4,25 m. and depth is 2-3 m. with the pump which is pumping out water from a drainage for the plots limits. Such well become stronger by ferro-concrete or plastic rings in diameter of 1 m, and from above it is closed by the cover from pig-iron or a polymeric material.

Drainage channels should have a bias of 2 sm. on each 10 m. towards a water intake. It increases speed of water decrease.

Drainage pipes in parallel with pipes of the storm water drain in one drenches are laid for site drainage in a layer of rubble, beaten brick or a pebble, well passing water. It is necessary to build a drainage, beginning from the water intake - the deepest part of system.

Under the closed collector on which the water will arrive from drains in water intake, the trench is laid. Then drainage trenches are laid. Comprehensible diameter of the drain is 5-7 sm, of collector - 5-7 sm, on a site not bigger than 15 hundred parts.

On sites with clay soil the distance between drains should be 10 m, on loams - 20 m, and on the sandy - from 30 to 50 m.

Optimum depth of drainage bedding:

for clay soils - 1,5 m

for sandy soils - 0,6 m

for peat soils - 0,3 m

Trenches are diged out in the width not less than three diameters of the drain. In the dug trench the stack of geotextiles is laid, which will warn flood of filter-bed and drains. Then it is filled in with rubble for the thickness equal to diameter of the drain. Then drain is stuck and filled in with rubble on the half of trench height. Then it is wrapped up with the free ends of geotextiles and filled in with ground.

At correct operation the drainage system serves about 50 years. In places where the system is laid, it is impossible to go by heavy technics. And if the soil is strongly stamped, it is necessary to loosen it for water penetration.

Once in the year drainage pipes should be washed out for the prevention of their grounding. For this purpose the water hose is connected to open edge of the collector and drainage system is washed out by stream of water with a good pressure.

Pipes for the drainage are made of polyethylene, polypropylene and the polyvinylchloride, possessing high firmness to influence of acids and alkalis.

Except the deep drainage there is the superficial (linear) drainage used for tap of superfluous water from roofs of buildings. The storm water drain is easily gathered from superficial concrete, polymer-concrete or plastic trenches (depth 30-35 sm) on which the rain water flows down.

Designing of drainage system demands exact calculations, soil research. Besides, it is necessary to define level of underground waters, type and ground density.

Recently the absorbing floor-mats made of several layers of various materials came to the market. They can be used for wall-adjacent drainage and irrigation of athletic fields.

Health of any garden depends on soil. The moisture lack is eliminated by system of watering installation, and moisture surplus - by installation of drainage system.
