It is an annual plant. Stalks are upright, the height is from 30 to 50 sm. Flowers are to 5 sm in diameter, decorative effect is reached thanks to various colouring of top leaves. Seeds are sowed in February-April in the hothouse or in April-May directly in an open ground. At temperature 20-25°С shoots appear on 8-11 day. It grows well on the open shined plots with fertile soil. It is used mainly for group plantings, ridges, in flower beds and as pottery culture.
